Statement of faith
We are an apostolic congregation.
What does an apostolic congregation mean?
-
Yes, like other apostolic congregations, we baptize in the name of Jesus Christ (Yeshua Hamashiach) (Acts 2:38, Acts 8:16, Acts 10:48, Acts 19:5)
-
Like other apostolic congregations, we believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost, speaking in other tongues as the initial evidence. (Mark 16:17, Acts 2:4, Acts 10:46, Acts 19:6)
-
Like other apostolic congregations, we believe in holiness. That both men and women should dress modestly.
How we differ from other apostolic congregations.
-
We still believe the Torah is our guide. When Jesus taught his disciples, He only taught Torah. Not the traditions of the Pharisees. (Mark 7:5)
-
We have not accepted the baptized paganism of the Roman Catholic Church. Specifically; Christmas, Easter, Lent, Halloween, All Saints Day etc.
-
We believe the body of Messiah is still obligated to keep the 7 Feasts of YHVH as documented in Leviticus 23.
-
These 7 Feast days are not kept as the Israelites of old kept them, but we understand their prophetic significance and celebrate accordingly. Not with burnt offerings as of old, but with the sacrifice of praise. (Hebrews 13:15)
-
We believe the 10 commandments are the original covenant made with Israel and that they are still binding upon the people of YHVH.(Deuteronomy 4:13)
-
We believe the 4th commandment is still binding as well, namely; “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. (Exodus 20:8 [WEBME])”
-
We believe the “law of Moses” is, just as the apostle Paul said, spiritual; “For we know that the law is spiritual... (Romans 7:14 [WEBME])” For example, “then his master shall bring him to God, and shall bring him to the door or to the doorpost, and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall serve him for ever. (Exodus 21:6 [WEBME]”. We know that Messiah was; “But he was pierced for our transgressions... (Isaiah 53:5 [WEBME]” and “even as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:28 [WEBME]”
-
We believe in apostolic authority and apostolic council. There were no “lone ranger” assemblies in the book of Acts. When a question arose, the leaders took council together and came to a consensus among themselves, and this consensus was put in place among all the assemblies.
-
We believe in an ordained ministry. Clearly Yeshua called the apostle Paul, but the apostle Paul upon his meeting with the original apostles said; “I went up by revelation, and I laid before them the Good News which I proclaim among the Gentiles, but privately before those who were respected, for fear that I might be running, or had run, in vain. (Galatians 2:2 [WEBME])”. It is clarified that the apostles were sent out by the authorities in the assemblies; “Now in the assembly that was at Antioch there were some prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen the foster brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they served the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Separate Barnabas and Saul for me, for the work to which I have called them.” Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. (Acts 13:1-3 [WEBME]”. Clearly, the apostle Paul, though called separately and called by Yeshua Himself, still considered himself subordinate to the apostles in Jerusalem and to those placed in authority by them (Galatians 1:18,19)
-
We are Messianic in a form, but not Messianic Jews. Hebrews 7:11-17 tell us that the Levitical law ended with the Levitical priesthood. We are under a new High Priest, Yeshua. Verse 12 states a changing in the law, putting us back to the 10 commandments given to Moses (Exodus 20:3-23:33) on Sinai before the law of Moses was added because of transgression (Galatians 3:19).
